Ryan Reid: Home
The KUSH Girls welcomed special guest Ryan Reid to the Donna and Molly Show last Monday. Reid, a Cushing native, recently made his way back home to remember his roots.
Reid,28, spent several years in the indie rock scene of New York, but recently came back home. "I came back home to remember; remember not only who I am but why I am." he stated, "I think that's a reminder we can all use every once in a while."
Reid grew up with a guitar in his hand. "I remember my first guitar - I didn't really play it, but I carried it around," Reid said, "I was about five years old."
His passion for music continued and as they say -the rest is history. Reid will release his debut solo EP titled "Home" on January 20, 2009.
The project was recorded in Oklahoma's own Flatland Studios in Stillwater, under the direction of engineer Tony Pearce.
"It's my life put to music," Reid said.
While he admits his inspiration comes from events and feelings he has experienced, his desire is for the music to touch people in their own way.
"Music is a feeling," Reid said. "I don't like to tell people what the song means to me, I want them to come away with their own meanings or interpretations."
A true performer, Reid bantered and flirted his way into the hearts of the KUSH Girls.
In fact, they were a bit in awe of Reid as he performed his soon-to-be released song "Home". His unique voice, poignant lyrics and passionate performance left them wanting more.
"You can come back ANYTIME," they assured him as they practically swooned.
Then as he left, they had to agree that Ryan Reid could very well be yet another Oklahoma singer/songwriter that hits it big.
Reid is currently living in Stillwater, but his parents still live in Cushing and are both employed at Cushing Regional Hospital.

"Home" will be available on iTunes, January 20, 2009.
